Over 100 Polluting Facilities Shut Down in Tashkent

More than 100 facilities causing air pollution shut down in Tashkent
From November 24 to 28, task forces of the Special Commission on Ecology inspected enterprises and construction sites in Tashkent and its surrounding areas. As a result, the activities of 67 greenhouses were halted, and administrative protocols were issued for 403 facilities.

Gas supply conditions were determined for 19 enterprises. Among construction sites, 53 illegal areas were identified, work was temporarily suspended at 34 constructions, and 188 individuals were held administratively accountable.

In addition, water spraying systems were installed at 51 sites to reduce dust. Furthermore, 837 truck drivers were penalized for transporting uncovered loads, and 206 drivers were fined for exceeding set waste disposal standards.

Moreover, city streets and public spaces were cleaned, ditches and drainage systems were cleared, fountains were activated, and the microclimate improved. These measures contributed to reducing air pollution, with PM 2.5 particle concentration dropping from 171 µg/m³ to 97 µg/m³ within a week.

However, the Ministry of Ecology indicated that starting November 29, a cold anticyclone is expected, which may temporarily worsen air quality.
