Tashkent declares 2026 as the year of income growth

The year 2026 has been declared the "Year of Accelerated Development and Income Growth" in Tashkent. According to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a comprehensive program to develop the city will be implemented next year.

A total of $9 billion in direct foreign investments is planned to be attracted to the city's economy, with this figure projected to reach $20 billion over the next two years. New industrial and logistics projects will be developed in the Sergeli, Yangi Hayot, and Bektemir districts.

In the Sergeli district, a $70 million agro-logistics complex is under construction. Meanwhile, in Yangi Hayot and Bektemir, projects worth $3 billion in the textile, automotive, and other industries will be launched.

In other districts of the city, investments will be directed toward sectors such as service, tourism, creative economy, design, IT, startups, fintech (financial technologies), healthcare, and education. In 2025, 26 streets in Tashkent were transitioned to 24-hour service, creating income opportunities for 5,000 people.

In 2026, another 18 such streets are planned to be established. The education quality improvement program will also be expanded.

By 2026, the number of schools where students in grades 7-11 can study IT, medicine, business, and engineering fields will reach 24, and this figure will increase to 33 by 2027. Teachers will receive salaries of up to 20 million soum per month based on their students' success.
