Indian villages living under threat
In central and eastern India, the local population is living in difficult conditions due to clashes between Maoist groups and government forces. This confrontation has continued for a decade, with thousands of people killed.

The Maoists are an armed group aiming to establish a communist state in India and some other countries.

The government has intensified security operations to eliminate the Maoists. New posts have been established in many areas, but some ordinary citizens report being unjustly victimized.

Youths from local communities who have surrendered are being used in special groups. Human rights activists view this as dangerous, as such groups have previously misused tribal youths.

The government has promised development projects and new schools, roads, and mobile networks. At the same time, local people, fearing loss of land and damage to natural resources, sometimes continue to support the Maoists.
