The President of Belarus proposed the construction of a second nuclear power plant in Belarus.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko proposed building a second nuclear power plant in the country during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was announced through a transcript of the meeting published on the Kremlin's website.

According to Lukashenko, a new nuclear power plant could be built in eastern Belarus. One of its main goals is to supply electricity to the Russian-occupied territories of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk, and Donetsk.

Lukashenko stated that "Rosatom" has prepared opportunities for the implementation of the project and does not want to discuss financial aspects publicly. Putin, not directly supporting this proposal, responded: "If there is a consumer who will buy electricity and pay the required tariff, this is not a problem at all."
