Uzbek Driver's Licenses in Russia

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia has provided clarification regarding the use of Uzbek national driving licenses within the Russian Federation. The statement was published on the embassy's Telegram channel.

According to current Russian legislation, Uzbek nationals are permitted to operate personal vehicles if they possess a national driving license. However, the embassy emphasized that if an Uzbek citizen seeks to work as a driver in Russia, they are required to obtain a Russian driving license.

"The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan maintains regular communication with the relevant Russian authorities and will continue to notify our citizens of any changes affecting their rights and interests," the diplomatic mission's statement said. In mid-November of this year, the Speaker of the State Duma of Russia, Vyacheslav Volodin, announced that Moscow only recognizes driving licenses from countries where Russian is an official language, while citizens from other nations must pass driving exams.
