Tokayev on Uzbekistan’s leader: “Mirziyoyev works out at the gym”

Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in an interview with the local Turkistan newspaper, commented on various rumors circulating among the public, including speculation about his health. During the conversation, the head of state openly said he feels well and emphasized that he has no health complaints.
According to the president, his condition is stable: his blood pressure is consistently normal. Tokayev also did not hide that his daily routine includes physical activity. He noted that he practices yoga every day, but without meditation.
“My health is fine, my blood pressure is consistently normal. I do yoga every day, but without meditation,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
At the same time, Kazakhstan’s leader said he plays table tennis twice a week with a former professional athlete. In his view, regular movement and sports are crucial for maintaining both mental well-being and overall vitality.
Tokayev also noted that he has recently lost 9 kilograms. The president said this change has had a positive effect on his daily mood and physical lightness.
“I really did lose weight, and it helped me feel much lighter and better,” he added.
During the interview, the head of state also touched on the physical fitness of CIS leaders. He said it is noticeable that many leaders in the region are in good shape.
As an example, Tokayev recalled a recent informal event in Bishkek, where Vladimir Putin jokingly spoke about wrestling with a young judoka and “defending” the honor of the older generation.
The president also listed other leaders’ attitudes toward sports:
- Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev works out regularly;
- Kyrgyzstan’s leader Sadyr Japarov plays football;
- Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev trains at the gym;
- Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan enjoys cycling;
- Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko still plays hockey;
- And Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon said he feels well.
In conclusion, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev openly summed it up: it can be said that most of his colleagues in the region are in excellent physical condition.
