The Constanța Court of Appeal in Romania has sentenced American rapper Wiz Khalifa to nine months in prison on charges of possessing and using marijuana in a public space, according to a report by BBC.
The incident occurred in July 2024 during the "Beach, Please!" music festival. Initially, the court had fined the rapper $829, but this penalty was deemed too lenient and replaced with a prison sentence.
Investigators revealed that Wiz Khalifa was in possession of more than 18 grams of cannabis, and his behavior on stage was said to have portrayed illegal activities as "normal" to the young audience.
"I was treated with a lot of respect and was let go. I'll be back soon, but this time without a giant marijuana cigarette," the artist commented on the situation. However, despite the ruling, the possibility of Wiz Khalifa being extradited from the United States is considered very low.
Experts suggest that Romania could submit an official request to the U.S. government, but due to differences in marijuana legislation between the two countries, the rapper's extradition is seen as highly unlikely.
