Uzbekistan and Tajikistan launch a multimodal corridor

Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have agreed to launch a pilot multimodal transport corridor linking Central Asia with China and Europe, Anadolu Ajansı reported. This was reported by kursiv.uz reports .

The first test trip under the project will start in Uzbekistan: a convoy of 10 loaded trucks will head to China via Tajikistan.

The decision to launch the route was made at the level of the transport ministers of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. The parties plan to jointly access the China route and switch to an electronic system for issuing permits for international freight transport.

In addition, increasing the capacity of the Jartepa—Sarazm border crossing is envisaged. A logistics center is planned at the border, capable of handling up to 100 trucks per day and speeding up document processing.
