Artificial intelligence is widely used in Indian cinema

In the Indian film industry, artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are being used more and more. Directors use AI to preview scenes, create visual effects, and clone voices. For example, Vivek Anchalia made 95% of his film Naisha with AI, significantly reducing the budget.
AI provides opportunities for low-budget films. Director Arun Chandu used AI to create scenes for his post-apocalyptic film, and sound designers make sound effects faster and easier with AI. This process helps make films faster and cheaper.
However, AI cannot always reflect cultural and emotional nuances. Some films, like the Tamil film Raanjhanaa, were changed with AI without the original director’s consent. There is also a risk of illegal use of actors or creative property.
Still, filmmakers use AI as a creative aid. AI helps make films faster and cheaper, but human emotion and control are important when creating complex and emotional scenes.
