21 killed as two high-speed trains collide in Spain

At least 21 people were killed on January 18 after two high-speed trains collided in Spain’s Córdoba province. This was reported by kursiv.uz. reports .
According to reports, an Iryo company train traveling from Málaga to Madrid derailed and struck another rail convoy heading from the Spanish capital to Huelva. After the impact, the second train slid down an embankment beside the track.
Andalusian regional government head Juanma Moreno said 75 injured people were hospitalized, 15 of them in serious condition. He also warned the death toll could rise and stressed that heavy machinery is needed to recover the bodies.
El Pais writes that Spanish military personnel will also arrive at the scene shortly. Spain’s Transport Minister Óscar Puente said the rail section where the crash occurred had been repaired last spring and was in good technical condition, calling the incident “extremely strange.”
