In Round 20 of the Spanish league, Elche hosted Sevilla. Despite creating fewer chances, the hosts used them far more efficiently, while Sevilla, even with nearly 20 shots, could not change the score for a long time. This is reported by euro-football.ru reports .
In the 14th minute, Aleix Febas opened the scoring to put Elche ahead. Late in the first half, Sevilla came close: Batista Mendy’s shot from inside the box hit the crossbar, and Djibril Sow saw his effort from a good position saved by the goalkeeper.
In the 55th minute, German Valera doubled the hosts’ lead — 2:0. After that, Sevilla increased the pressure: Osun’s long-range strike rattled the crossbar. In the 75th minute, Osu hit the woodwork again, and Akor Adams calmly tucked away the rebound — 2:1.
A dramatic moment followed late on: in the 90th minute, Alvaro Rodriguez handled the ball and the referee awarded a penalty. Akor Adams converted the spot-kick to make it 2:2; the goalkeeper got a touch but couldn’t keep it out.
After the draw, Elche are joint 8th in the standings, while Sevilla sit 14th, three points behind their opponents.
