New US visa requirements: "secret filter" launched

The US has introduced a new procedure in the process of obtaining temporary visas. Now, applicants are required to undergo additional screening and provide clear answers to important questions. This was reported by “The Guardian,” citing internal directives from the US Department of State.
According to the new procedure, individuals wishing to obtain a visa must confirm during the consular interview that they have not faced persecution or violence in their country, and that they do not fear returning there. Giving an affirmative answer to these questions or not answering them at all sharply increases the likelihood of visa denial.
It is reported that the Department of State has instructed embassy and consular staff worldwide to implement this procedure. Now, these questions are an integral part of the interview, and it will be impossible to continue the process without answering them.
Applicants will be asked the following questions on a mandatory basis:
— Have you faced violence or cruel treatment in the country where you have been living?
— Do you fear facing such danger upon returning to that country?
According to experts, this innovation is mainly aimed at more accurately verifying information regarding the identity of applicants and reducing cases of providing false information.
Observers note that the new “filter” may complicate the visa process, but it serves to strengthen control in US migration policy.
