A grand jury in the Eastern District of North Carolina has approved the indictment against former FBI Director James Comey.
According to CNN, he has been charged with threatening the President of the United States. The charge is related to a photo Comey posted on social media in May 2025.
The image depicts the number “8647” formed with seashells, which investigators are interpreting as a call with a hidden meaning.
According to interpretations, “86” can mean to “eliminate,” while “47” may refer to the 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump.
James Comey has denied his guilt and expressed confidence that the federal judicial system will reach an impartial decision.
Experts believe it will not be easy for the prosecution to prove that the image was intentionally posted as a call for an assassination.
