It has become a habit for many people to have breakfast with sweets, cookies, or other sweet products. However, Dr. José Abelán, a well-known Spanish cardiologist, has issued a serious warning about this. In an interview with La Razón, he emphasized that such a sweet breakfast is not only harmful to health, but can also disrupt energy, mood, and metabolic activity throughout the day.
According to Abelán, the human body sets its "metabolic tone" through breakfast. That is, breakfast not only satisfies the need for satiety, but also plays an important role in preparing the entire body for the day. If breakfast consists mainly of sweet products - sweets, cakes, and cereal cookies, this can lead to an uncontrolled increase in appetite, excess calorie intake, and even repeated eating throughout the day.
“Sweet products are mostly processed, they contain almost no useful microelements - vitamins, minerals, proteins, complex carbohydrates,” the cardiologist emphasizes.
In his opinion, after breakfast, the level of glucose in the blood increases sharply, which significantly increases the risk of overweight, insulin resistance, weakened immunity and cardiovascular diseases.
Also, Dr. Abelyan does not call for a complete rejection of sweets. He is a supporter of their correct and moderate use:
“The point is not to not eat sweets, but to replace a full and healthy breakfast with sweets. If a person eats sweets from time to time - there is no harm in this. But if this replaces breakfast every morning - it becomes a dangerous habit,” he warns.
Experts recommend giving preference to foods rich in protein, healthy fats, and complex carbohydrates for breakfast - for example, eggs, avocados, buckwheat, vegetables, or healthy alternatives such as meat sandwiches.
Therefore, do not forget that the choice of the first meal in the morning is not just about nutrition, but also the first step towards health, lifestyle, and prevention of future diseases. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
