After the Super League Round 20 match between “Qizilqum” and “Bunyodkor” (1:1), the head coach of the hosts, Akmal Rustamov, spoke at the press conference. According to him, if his team had taken advantage of their chances, they could have achieved a big win. At the same time, the coach expressed criticism about the referees’ performance.
“We couldn’t use our chances”
— Greetings to everyone. We knew the game would be difficult. After playing against “Xorazm” on artificial turf in the last round, switching to natural grass was a bit tough. Despite that, I want to thank the guys, they gave their all. If we had converted our chances, we could have won by 3-4 goals. Unfortunately, the opportunities did not turn into goals, and in the end we shared one point, — said Akmal Rustamov.
“We won’t stop working during the break”
According to the coach, the short break in the Super League should benefit the team:
— We already have a plan. We will give the players 3-4 days off, then gather again in Navoi. We have also arranged friendly matches: one in Navoi, two in Tashkent. We have no right to relax. After the break, we aim to show stronger football and climb to the upper part of the table.
“Our real goal was canceled”
Rustamov also touched on the refereeing:
— Actually, I didn’t want to bring this up, but I must. In the match against “Surxon” two penalties were not given to us. Today, our clean goal was canceled. The same thing happened against “Andijon”. There is a higher organization that monitors referees’ work, I ask them to review these games. I don’t know how much longer we can endure this.
“We will keep trusting the youngsters”
The coach also spoke about substitute Bobomurod Bozorov:
— He strengthened our play. We will continue to give opportunities to young players from Navoi.
In conclusion, Akmal Rustamov thanked the fans and emphasized that he believes the team will show stronger results in the upcoming matches.
