South Korea reminds tourists to follow rules on Jeju Island
In the popular South Korean tourist spot Jeju Island, police have issued rules to tourists for the first time. These rules aim to prevent littering, children soiling streets, and other disorderly behaviour.

The guide is printed in Chinese, English, and Korean. The police want to explain Korean laws and culture to visitors.

The rules include minor offences such as smoking in public places, littering, jaywalking, being drunk and disorderly, leaving a restaurant without paying, and using fake documents. First-time offenders receive a warning, while repeat offenders can be fined up to 200,000 won(143 $).

Jeju Island is famous for its beaches, mountain trails, and shopping centers. Over 7 million tourists visited this year, 70% of them from China. Tourists contribute significantly to the local economy.

The reminder aims to reduce overcrowding and disorder. Other popular Asian destinations are also taking similar measures.
