Why there is no blessing: about habits that diminish sustenance

The article discusses the absence of blessings in people's lives despite having stable jobs and decent salaries. It suggests that many individuals feel unfulfilled due to their own habits and attitudes, such as lack of responsibility, gossiping about colleagues, and prioritizing personal matters during work hours. These negative behaviors gradually erode one's sense of peace and satisfaction, leading to a realization that true contentment comes from honesty and integrity in the workplace. Ultimately, it encourages individuals to reflect on whether they are contributing to or detracting from the blessings in their work environment.

Sometimes a person feels very busy, as if they are working tirelessly. They do not lift their head from work throughout the day and are constantly in motion. Their salary is not bad either, perhaps even better than some others. Yet, despite this, it feels as if there is no blessing (baraka) in their life. There is money, but no satisfaction from it. There is work, but no sense of peace.
Many attribute this situation to external factors: the economy, the workplace, a supervisor, or the environment. But in reality, the root of the issue often lies within the person themselves—in their daily habits and attitudes.
So, why is there a salary but no blessing? The answer is simple, yet it gives one much to think about. It is because, in many cases, a person:
— does not approach their duties with sufficient responsibility;
— gossips about their supervisor or colleagues behind their backs;
— develops a habit of looking down on those in lower positions;
— makes a habit of arriving late to work and leaving early;
— gets distracted by personal matters during working hours;
— is prone to constant complaining and grumbling;
— avoids responsibility and looks for excuses;
— discusses the shortcomings of others more than the achievements of the team;
— is sometimes inclined to seek easy and hidden benefits instead of honest labor.
These habits slowly drain the blessing from a person's life. Many do not notice this, but the results gradually become apparent.
One must not forget the most important truth: where there is forbidden (haram) influence, there is no blessing. Money may increase, and income may rise, but inner peace and satisfaction will disappear. The primary value in life is precisely this peace.
Where is the blessing? It is only in honesty.
Blessing is in working with a clear conscience.
Blessing is in not betraying the rights of others.
Therefore, every person should frequently ask themselves a question:
“Am I bringing blessing to my workplace, or am I the one causing it to be lost?”
The answer is not simple. But if you answer truthfully, your life will change.
