Morocco becomes 64th country to join Artemis Moon program

Morocco signed the Artemis Accords on April 29. It became the third country to join the international initiative for lunar exploration within the last ten days. This was reported by Ixbt.com xabar.
The document was signed by the country's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, at a ceremony in Rabat.
According to U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, the expansion of the accords reflects international interest in the responsible exploration of space. Currently, 64 countries have joined the Artemis Accords.
Morocco became the third country to sign the agreement in a short period. Previously, Latvia joined on April 20, and Jordan joined on April 23.
A total of five countries have signed the document since the beginning of the year.
The increase in the number of participants may be linked to the Artemis II mission, which took place at the beginning of April. Former NASA official Mike Gold noted that as the program develops, interest in it will continue to grow.
The Artemis Accords establish principles for the safe exploration of space, building upon existing international treaties. NASA views them as a framework for coordinating international participation, including for a future lunar base.
