The reason why flowers are planted in the garden has been revealed
You certainly don't want your garden to be destroyed by pests during the harvest season. That's why you need to prepare in advance to protect your crops. Here's what plants you can plant in such a case?

Gardener and landscape designer Olga Voronova says that flowers and medicinal plants can be excellent "guardians" for your crops. For example, marigolds, nasturtiums, and calendulas keep insects away.

Different plants can be planted with different crops. Marigolds fight the cabbage beetle, so it is recommended to plant them next to cabbage. Black beans (chernie bobi) keep the Colorado potato beetle away from potatoes, and nasturtium protects crops from harmful fungi.

“These three classic flowers are 100 percent effective,” the expert says.

Rosemary, monarda, and other fragrant medicinal plants are also good neighbors for garden crops. Their pleasant, but insect-repellent, scent protects plants. Pauline is also effective, but it is not necessary to find it growing naturally; it can also be specially planted in the garden.

To arrange all the plants beautifully and rationally, Olga Voronova recommends planning in advance a separate area for flowers and medicinal plants.

“I usually leave a little space when sowing seeds, and then plant the necessary flowers in them,” the gardener shared in a comment to MIR 24.

There is another added benefit to planting edible vegetables alongside flowers: the result is a beautiful, designer-style garden, not just a regular garden.
