On August 12, a major road traffic accident occurred in the Urgut district of Samarkand region. According to the regional Traffic Safety Department, MAZ and MAN brand trucks collided in the “Mergancha” mahalla area, causing both vehicles to overturn.
According to operational reports, the incident happened at around 10:20 a.m. The MAZ driver, traveling on an internal road in the “Kamangaron – Mergancha” direction, crashed into the rear of the MAN truck that was ahead. Investigators are currently considering the preliminary version that the brakes of one of the trucks failed.
As a result of the accident, one of the drivers was taken to the hospital, but according to official information, no one sustained serious injuries. The Traffic Safety Department has launched a preliminary investigation into the incident.
Local residents say that the collision site is in an area with heavy traffic and that such situations can occur due to negligence and technical malfunctions. Authorities once again urged truck drivers to observe speed limits, regularly check the technical condition of their vehicles, and undergo preventive inspections before long-distance trips.
