Last week, a serious incident occurred in the security sphere of our country. According to official information released by the State Security Service, three young women aged between 19 and 21 were detained for distributing materials related to terrorist organizations prohibited by law.
It was reported that these young women, born in 2004–2006, under the guise of an interest in obtaining religious knowledge, created a special channel in the Telegram messenger. There, they distributed audio and video propaganda materials belonging to extremist organizations banned in the Republic of Uzbekistan and recognized by the international community as dangerous, such as the “Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant” and the “Turkistan Islamic Movement.”
Furthermore, the activities of these girls were not limited to an open channel. They also carried out propaganda in other closed groups, where the closed nature made it possible to evade monitoring. According to the State Security Service report, poisoned by extremist ideas, they discussed among themselves the possibility of joining the bloody wars in Syria. False and manipulative slogans such as “jihad,” “hijrah,” and “shahid” allegedly became their life goals.
In order to expand the scope of their activities, they opened personal pages on the Instagram network, attempting to deliver the prohibited materials to even more young people. Through this, they aimed not only to spread information but also to lead youth toward various false and dangerous paths.
As a result of operational search measures carried out jointly by the SSS and other law enforcement agencies, these individuals were detained. Currently, strict measures are being taken against them within the framework of the law.
Officials emphasize that such cases indicate a lack of knowledge about cybersecurity and information culture among youth. Therefore, experts call for vigilance towards any suspicious content and propaganda on the internet.
