Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russian forces continue striking civilian infrastructure even on the day of the talks in Alaska. According to him, Moscow is not giving any signals of readiness to end the war — that is, no real political concessions are visible. Zelensky noted this in a statement posted on social media.
According to the head of state, he is receiving constant reports from intelligence and diplomats about preparations for the meeting in Alaska, as well as about which positions Russian President Vladimir Putin is going there with. At the same time, reports are coming in about new attacks on the territory of Ukraine: Sumy — a strike on the central market; Dnipropetrovsk region — strikes on cities and enterprises; Zaporizhia, Kherson, and Donetsk regions — under Russia’s targeted fire.
Proceeding from this picture, Zelensky indicated that there are no signs that the Kremlin is genuinely preparing to end the war: “On the day of negotiations, the enemy continues to kill. This says a lot about the real intentions of the Russian regime,” he said, emphasizing that the situation at the front sharply contradicts the diplomatic agenda.
Russia’s Ministry of Defense, for its part, denied Zelensky’s statement and accused the Ukrainian side of staging a provocation ahead of the talks. In other words, according to Moscow’s version, the accusations are being regarded as rhetoric serving political pressure.
Meanwhile, in a few hours the meeting between Putin and Trump will begin in Alaska. The talks will be held at a military base in Anchorage — the Elmendorf–Richardson facility. It is expected that the summit will center on resolving the Ukraine crisis, but the standing line remains that there will also be dialogue on other tracks — bilateral economic cooperation and global security.
Zamin.uz impression: on one side — reports about strikes coming from the front, on the other — political dialogue in Anchorage. The question remains open: can statements from the diplomatic rostrum change the reality on the battlefield?
