A new milestone has been reached in Tashkent’s medical field — local doctors successfully performed a unique heart surgery on a six-year-old patient. Remarkably, the new valve implanted in the child was made from his own heart tissue.
According to the available information, the patient’s damaged tricuspid valve was completely removed. In an operation where every step required extreme precision and skill, the surgeon created a new valve from the right atrial appendage of the heart. This complex procedure was carried out by young and talented pediatric cardiac surgeon, “El-yurt umidi” scholarship recipient, Bobur Turaev.
The surgery was performed with the participation of a clinic team led by Nodir Ibragimov. Over the past eight months, the clinic has completed around 500 cardiac surgeries.
Bobur Turaev has extensive international experience in his field — he studied at University College London, trained in ten countries, and published nearly 20 scientific papers. Despite his young age, he has already performed over a thousand successful heart surgeries on children.
Experts believe that this achievement will not only mark a new stage in the development of local cardiac surgery but also inspire Uzbek doctors to aim for greater accomplishments. The medical community emphasizes that such procedures significantly enhance the country’s healthcare potential.
