Has anthrax, a disease transmitted from animals, resurfaced?
Anthrax at the border again – sanitary control strengthened
The dangerous anthrax disease observed in neighboring countries requires serious response in our country as well. Relevant authorities have begun taking urgent measures in this regard. Because it is a highly dangerous infection transmitted from animals to humans, reported sanepid.uz.

According to Farhod Qurbonbekov, a representative of the Committee on Sanitary-Epidemiological Peace and Public Health, enhanced control has been established at 55 border checkpoints to prevent anthrax from entering Uzbekistan. Every person crossing the border undergoes a special examination, and additional control measures are applied if necessary.

In early July, 41 cases related to anthrax were registered in Tajikistan. The disease also spread in Kazakhstan, where two villages were placed under quarantine.

Officials state that such cases have not yet been recorded in our country. However, the threat remains serious. Therefore, in any suspected case of anthrax, a rapid diagnosis and treatment system is activated.

Soil samples are regularly taken and studied in laboratories in disease hotspots. This is considered an important part of preventive work.

What is anthrax?
This disease is caused by the bacterium Bacillus anthracis. It is transmitted from animals to humans and is classified among the most dangerous infectious diseases. Anthrax can affect not only people but also all types of livestock.

The disease is transmitted to humans mainly in the following situations:
when caring for an infected animal;
when slaughtering an animal not examined by a veterinarian;
when consuming undercooked pork or beef;
during processing of the wool or skin of a dead animal.

Anthrax affects the skin, lungs, and even intestines. It begins with fever, poisoning, and flu-like symptoms.

Even boiled meat can be dangerous
The most dangerous part is that even meat boiled at 100 degrees Celsius can still be infected if not fully heated. Only thoroughly cooked meat without pink parts is considered safe.

Therefore, high caution is needed when buying meat products. Unchecked, unverified sources can be major risk factors.

When is the disease detected?
Symptoms can vary but typically include: skin darkening, fever, pain, headache, loss of appetite, weakness, and difficulty breathing. If the infection enters through the lungs or intestines, the complications become more severe.

If such symptoms are observed, immediate medical attention is required. Antibiotics are used in the first stage of treatment.

What should citizens pay attention to?
Buy meat and dairy only from officially verified stores;
Avoid buying meat from unofficial or unknown sources;
Wear gloves and special clothing when working with animals;
Report any suspicious symptoms in animals to veterinarians immediately.

Government control and public awareness
Sanitary control regarding anthrax has been strengthened. In addition to border checks, preventive efforts in the regions have also intensified. Mass awareness campaigns are being conducted through media channels.

Citizens must not remain indifferent to such threats and should notify relevant authorities in case of any suspicion.

Conclusion:
Anthrax is not just an agricultural disease. It is a serious infection threatening human life. The situation in neighboring countries indicates reactivation of the disease. Although government control has been intensified, every citizen must pay attention to their personal hygiene and safety.

Speed, vigilance, and access to information – these are the demands of today.
