Uzbekistan has declared war on traffic offenders
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has announced the launch of a new, stricter traffic control system targeting habitual traffic violators. He stressed that it is time to restore order on the roads, as the current situation is a serious concern, reported UPL.uz.

In 2024, drivers in Uzbekistan committed 24 million traffic violations, with 81% categorized as serious offenses. The most problematic areas are Samarkand, Kashkadarya, Tashkent regions, and the capital.

Particular concern has been raised by the irresponsible attitude spreading on social media, including from influencers, promoting the idea that paying a fine grants the right to break rules. The President firmly rejected this view, stating that the new system aims to change this mindset, improve driving culture, and enforce the law against repeat offenders.

Under the new “Systematic Violators” initiative, the following changes will apply:

. 2 red light violations or driving into oncoming traffic within a month — all fine discounts will be canceled for up to 1 year.
. 10 or more violations in a month — driving license will be suspended for up to 6 months.
. Speeding penalties will be revised. Drivers exceeding the speed limit by 2–3 times may lose their license.

These measures aim to foster a respectful and responsible attitude toward traffic laws and fellow road users.
