Our Female Taekwondo Athletes Win Gold in Korea
The prestigious taekwondo tournament “World Taekwondo Diamond Games” has started in the city of Muju, Republic of Korea. These competitions are notable not only for their level but also for the high skill of the participating athletes. On the very first day, athletes from our country achieved an honorable result, reports olympic.uz.

The Uzbek national team’s duo of Ozoda Sabirjonova and Madina Shoniyozova competed in an unusual format — the -110 kg weight category (combined weight of both athletes). This category, based on the total weight of the pair, is considered a new and rarely seen approach in the world of taekwondo.

In the first round, our compatriots faced athletes from Singapore. The match was tense and intense, but thanks to their experience and resilience, Ozoda and Madina secured a 2:0 victory. This confident semi-final win further boosted their fighting spirit.

In the final, they faced a tougher opponent — the taekwondo team of the host country, Republic of Korea. Korean athletes are known for their aggressive and determined style on home ground. However, the Uzbek duo pressed forward with determination and managed to win the final also with a 2:0 score. This result not only brought a gold medal but also allowed the flag of Uzbekistan to be raised on the first day of the competition.

Currently, our taekwondo athletes are preparing seriously for the next rounds. Tomorrow, they will once again defend the country’s honor by competing in the mixed event. The Uzbek team is expected to achieve further victories there as well.

Thus, Ozoda and Madina’s triumph is not only their personal success but also clear evidence of our national sport’s growing presence on the international stage. All compatriots are looking forward to even more achievements.
