Former member of the South Korean pop group NCT, Moon Taeil, has been sentenced to 3.5 years in prison for sexual assault. This was reported by Peopletalk.
The incident occurred in June 2025. 31-year-old Taeil and two other men met a Chinese citizen at a bar in Seoul, and later, while she was intoxicated, took her to one of the men’s homes and raped her.
The court classified the incident as "quasi-rape" — a term used when the victim was unconscious during the act. The crime was further aggravated by the fact that it was committed by a group.
According to the prosecution:
- The perpetrators intentionally took the victim to an unfamiliar location.
- This caused her significant emotional distress.
- Their actions were deemed a serious crime.
Judge Lee Hyun Kyung, who presided over the case, stated:
“The victim was drunk and not conscious. She was assaulted in an unfamiliar place. This could have had a severe impact on her mental state.”
During the trial, all defendants admitted to their crimes. Initially, they faced up to seven years in prison. However, the court decided on a sentence of 3.5 years.
This case once again proves that even celebrities in show business are not above the law. Moon Taeil’s sentencing shows that South Korea takes sexual violence very seriously. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
