A 16-year-old girl died after nasal surgery in Samarkand, reported UPL.uz.
A tragedy occurred in Samarkand where a 16-year-old girl who came from abroad died following nasal surgery. The incident sparked public concern, prompting the prosecutor’s office to launch an investigation.
The girl had been living and studying abroad and came to Samarkand during her vacation to visit her grandmother. Due to breathing issues, doctors recommended nasal surgery.
On July 1, she was admitted to the ENT department of the regional hospital. A few hours into the procedure, her condition suddenly worsened, and she passed away.
Her grandmother expressed concern over the actions of the medical staff. She said she waited for news for a long time and was told the girl hadn’t regained consciousness. After about 90 minutes, doctors entered the room with equipment and brought her out on a stretcher, connected to oxygen. The grandmother believes her granddaughter was already dead at that moment and suspects medical negligence.
Relatives claim a tampon got lodged in her airway, causing suffocation.
Hospital representatives confirmed the patient’s condition worsened and she died, without providing further details.
In response, the regional prosecutor’s office ordered a forensic medical examination and began an internal and preliminary investigation.
