Aziz Abduhakimov appointed head of the Ecology Committee

By a decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, former Minister of Ecology Aziz Abduhakimov has been appointed as the Chairperson of the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change. Additionally, he will serve as an advisor to the President on environmental matters.

Abduhakimov led the Ministry of Ecology from October 2023 until mid-November 2023. Prior to that, he served as the head of the Ministry of Natural Resources.

It should be noted that on November 19, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree establishing the Ecology Committee based on the Ministry of Ecology. The new organization will implement various projects aimed at environmental protection and the greening of the country.

An environmental police unit will also be created under the committee. Additionally, the Tourism Committee, which was previously part of the Ministry of Ecology, has been reorganized into an independent entity.
