
The State Security Service detained an assistant to the governor in Nurafshon. He had allegedly promised to secure a job at the regional office of the Ecology Committee in exchange for $2,000.
According to reports, the individual had a prior criminal record. He was apprehended while taking money from an acquaintance in return for his services.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the matter. This incident is not the first involving governors and their assistants being caught for taking bribes.
Earlier in October, several officials in Sirdaryo and Navoi were detained on bribery charges. By April of this year, dozens of criminal cases had been opened against assistants to governors in the Samarkand region.
Additionally, two officials in Fergana were accused of fraud related to credit schemes.
