Public reacts sharply to Solovyov’s threatening remarks

Claims by Russian propagandist Vladimir Solovyov on his latest show that “military operations” could also be carried out in post-Soviet states sparked strong backlash from Uzbek experts and activists. Members of the public view this not only as a threat, but as an outright attack on the country’s sovereignty.

“A bully taking his anger out on peaceful people”

Prominent economist Otabek Bakirov He likened Solovyov’s remarks, figuratively, to “a bully beaten up by gamblers taking his anger out on innocent people peacefully walking down the road.” In the expert’s view, Central Asian countries should not stay silent in the face of such intimidation and should jointly issue an official diplomatic note.

Proposal to declare him “persona non grata”

Journalist Ilyos Safarov called the statements not merely “chasing ratings” (hype), but a political signal showing the most aggressive direction of Russia’s ideological machine. Citing Uzbekistan’s existing laws, he proposed adding Vladimir Solovyov to the list of individuals banned from entering the country — “persona non grata.”

A tough response from the Foreign Ministry is expected

Civic activist Rasul Kusherbayev described Solovyov’s words as an open threat. He urged Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs not to remain silent and to respond firmly and harshly. In his view, there must be no compromise when it comes to national interests and independence.

“We will defend our home together”

Journalist and activist Nikita Makarenko noted that such disrespect toward Uzbekistan’s sovereignty is seen worldwide only in Russian media. He urged Russian-speaking compatriots to stay away from colonial ideas:

“Uzbekistan’s Russian-speaking population must unite around the idea of a peaceful, sovereign homeland. We must build our independent life without any ‘masters’ and we must defend our home — Uzbekistan.”

Makarenko also cited Azerbaijan’s experience as an example in countering information attacks.

In your opinion, what is the most effective response to such statements by foreign propagandists: an official diplomatic note or information blocking?
