The traditional New Year trade fairs have commenced operations in the dehqon (farmer) bazaars of Tashkent ahead of the upcoming holiday season. According to the Tashkent city administration, these fairs have been opened in anticipation of the celebrations and will operate continuously during all weekends and public holidays.
These markets offer a wide variety of essential food products as well as numerous agricultural goods for the population. This initiative is aimed at preventing an artificial price surge that may result from increased demand during the holiday season.
Officials have reported that each market is linked to a specific region of Uzbekistan. This arrangement allows farmers and agricultural producers to deliver their goods directly from the regions to the capital, bypassing intermediaries, enabling direct sales to consumers. As a result, prices are expected to remain relatively stable, and the quality of the products is anticipated to be ensured.
The trade fairs are said to feature items such as meat, dairy products, vegetables, fruits, and other essential goods needed for daily use.
For reference, the New Year trade fairs organized in Tashkent’s farmer bazaars will remain operational until January 10, 2026. This setup provides city residents with a convenient and affordable shopping opportunity during the holiday period.
