In Samarkand, arrested for three days for dancing in the middle of the road

In Samarkand, the drivers and passengers of Gentra and Onix cars who grossly violated traffic rules at night were held administratively liable. This was reported by the press service of the Samarkand regional Road Safety Department.

According to the information, the incident occurred on Mirzo Ulugbek Street in the city. Around midnight, the drivers and passengers of two cars that were stopped at a red traffic light on a major road got out of their vehicles and began dancing with the music turned up loud. Notably, when the light turned green, they continued driving and repeated the same behavior at the next traffic light as well.

Regarding five individuals who disregarded traffic rules, the Samarkand city court imposed an administrative arrest of 3 days on each of them. The two vehicles were sent to a temporary impound lot.

According to one of the offenders, they “stopped at the red light, turned up the music and danced a bit,” and did not expect the consequences to go that far. He said he “regrets” it and advised other drivers not to do the same: as a driver, he admitted he should not have created such “conditions” for passengers and should not have allowed them to get out of the car. The others also expressed regret for what they had done.

Similar cases have previously also caused discussions. For example, in Andijan, after drivers stopped at a red light and greeted each other in the middle of the road, reports spread that another driver was fined a large amount.

In short, the road is not a stage. A minute of “mood” can sometimes turn into a tough three-day lesson.
