Starting in 2026, Uzbekistan plans to launch high-speed train services on the Tashkent — Urgench — Khiva route. The Ministry of Justice reported this.

It is noted that the project can be implemented after the electrification of the Bukhara — Khiva railway section is completed. In addition, by the end of next year the Miskin — Nukus line is set to be electrified and high-speed electric trains will be introduced.

By 2030, the country plans to increase annual passenger traffic to 23.5 million people. At the same time, the goal is to raise the number of electric train routes from 40 to 53.

There are also plans to launch high-speed rail services in Andijan, Namangan, Fergana and Surkhandarya regions by 2030.
