Stitch phenomenon: Disney merchandise generated $4 billion in revenue

Disney reported that in fiscal year 2025 it earned more than $4 billion from sales of various licensed products featuring Stitch. DTF reports.

According to the data, the sharp surge in interest in Stitch is directly linked to the major commercial success of the “Lilo & Stitch” remake. The film grossed $1.04 billion worldwide, becoming one of the year’s top-earning projects. CEO Bob Iger noted that the release also significantly boosted interest in the original animated film on Disney+.

Iger said merchandising today is not just a sales tool, but a key part of an ecosystem that connects content, fan emotions, and the experiences created in Disney theme parks.

Against this backdrop, Stitch is increasingly visible in Disney’s marketing campaigns and social initiatives as well. In 2025, he replaced Mickey Mouse for the first time on the Disney Holiday Magic Tour charity tour. As part of this annual initiative, the company raises donations, distributes gifts to children, and hosts various events for fans.

In addition, in early December, Stitch appeared on a Broadway stage for the first time. After a performance of the musical “Aladdin,” he came onstage, performed “A Whole New World,” and encouraged the audience to donate toys to the Toys for Tots foundation.

As a result, Stitch is becoming one of Disney’s most valuable brands not only on screen, but also in the commercial and social arenas.
