FIFA President Becomes Lebanese Citizen

FIFA president becomes a Lebanese citizen
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has become a citizen of the Republic of Lebanon. The country’s president, Joseph Khalil Aoun, received him in Beirut and personally handed over his passport.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the development of football in Lebanon and potential joint projects. "It is a great honor for me to receive Lebanese citizenship.

Today, together with President Aoun, we talked about strengthening peace through football and creating new opportunities for youth worldwide. Our dialogue was very productive," Infantino stated on social media.

The 55-year-old FIFA leader now holds three citizenships: Lebanese, Swiss, and Italian. For context, Infantino is married to Lina Al-Ashkar, who is of Lebanese origin.
