Real Madrid plan to sign young centre-backs in the summer

Real Madrid have begun closely studying the centre-back market to strengthen the squad next summer. According to ESPN journalists, the “Royal Club” intend to implement their transfer policy in a new direction. The goal is to focus mainly on signing young, high-potential players instead of experienced, big-name footballers.

As a result, the long-standing targets—Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konaté, Bayern-bound-to-leave Dayot Upamecano, and Crystal Palace captain Marc Guéhi—have been pushed aside. Real are now considering Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck and Rennes defender Jérémy Jacquet.

Real are also paying attention to their academy. Scouts are regularly monitoring the development of Joan Martínez, who has impressed at Castilla, and Jacobo Ramón at Como. Ramón’s contract with the Italian club includes a clause allowing him to be bought next year for €8 million, and Madrid plan to use that option.

These transfers are aimed at strengthening Real’s future and guiding the team to success with new, promising footballers.
