A serious “signal” from Iran to the US: Tehran will destroy American bases

The latest tensions between the United States and Iran are further escalating disputes over cooperation and armed intervention between the two countries. According to Iranian parliament official Mohammad Ghalibaf, if the US carries out any attack on Iran, Tehran will consider itself “legitimately attacked” and will treat Israeli and American military bases as the main “targets,” deciding to act accordingly.
Reuters reports that following these remarks, Israel is approaching any US involvement against Iran with extreme caution. If the situation turns into a full-scale military confrontation, there is a possibility Israel will implement any measures necessary to defend its position in practice.
Sources say the heightened level of preparedness is linked to efforts to prevent even more complex scenarios. In June, during the 12 days that led to fighting between Iran and Israel, the US joined Israel and carried out air strikes.
Iran’s domestic political situation is also significant: at the end of December, mass protests began due to a sharp depreciation of the national currency and price-related problems. Protesters, in turn, are fueling unrest to change the regime and restore the pre-1979 monarchy. Against this backdrop, Time magazine reported that 217 people were harmed in Iran.
US President Donald Trump is threatening to launch new attacks against the country in retaliation for the shooting of protesters in Iran. According to the WSJ, US officials discussed the issue of a possible military intervention against Iran.
