Reports have emerged that Elon Musk’s Tesla has temporarily halted mass production of its humanoid robot — Optimus. This decision is linked to measures aimed at improving the robot’s technical and software capabilities. According to Chinese sources, the company also stopped purchasing components for Optimus about a month and a half ago.
Although Tesla has not officially made a statement on this issue, the company’s internal sources confirm that production has been suspended until structural and functional changes to Optimus are completed, and that modernization has been prioritized. This process is expected to last up to two months.
Elon Musk stated on social media that the new version of Optimus is significantly improved compared to previous models. The updated robot includes integration with the Grok chatbot, enabling voice interaction functionality.
In addition, a number of improvements have been planned in the hardware components. It is assumed that the new model has significantly increased movement precision, maneuverability, and the ability to maintain balance.
According to reports, adjustments to the Optimus project began in June, after its first head, Milan Kovac, left the company. Currently, the project is being led by Ashok Elluswamy, who has been working at Tesla for 11 years and previously led the development of the company’s Full Self-Driving software. As an experienced AI expert, he aims to prepare Optimus for mass production.
This decision by Tesla shows that the company considers it important to perfect high-tech products such as humanoid robots before bringing them to market. Optimus stands as one of the world’s first intelligent robots, on the verge of entering everyday life, and expectations are high.
Therefore, the production pause is viewed not only as a way to eliminate technical flaws but also as preparation for launching a new era in the world of robotics. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
