Uzbekistan national team head coach Timur Kapadze shared his thoughts about the upcoming "CAFA Nations Cup-2025" tournament. According to him, this competition opens doors not only for traditional rivalries but also for the discovery of new footballers.
The experienced specialist stated: "In my opinion, CAFA is a very effective tournament. Two years ago it was also held in our country, and everyone liked it. This time, the participation of the Oman and Malaysia national teams will add even more level and excitement to the tournament. It's an excellent preparatory test for our players and a chance to discover new names."
Kapadze emphasized that the tight schedule and the tournament's start before FIFA dates could cause some issues: "Our legionnaires might face certain difficulties in arriving for the first matches. But there is still time. I am now closely watching league games, analyzing which players deserve a national team call-up. The main thing is that our players stay injury-free so all plans can be implemented."
The coach also highlighted the chance for a refreshed squad: "We have an opportunity to invite players to the national team who have not previously participated. If they prove themselves, they will certainly be included. Before the tournament, everything will become clear."
Kapadze also responded to the question about involving only Super League players, as was done at the winter training camp in Doha: "Those who show good results will not be overlooked. We evaluate opportunities correctly. Before CAFA, each candidate will be studied thoroughly."
The coach also touched on the contract issue: "As I said after the match against Qatar, my contract and the entire staff's contract is valid until November. There is still no new agreement. There will be no hasty decisions — everything is according to a clear plan."
