ChatGPT makes it harder for young professionals to get hired
Since ChatGPT launched in November 2022, the number of new job postings for young professionals in the UK has fallen by nearly a third, reports The Guardian, citing data from search engine Adzuna.

Companies are increasingly using artificial intelligence to handle simple tasks instead of hiring students or recent graduates. As a result, vacancies for graduates, internships, and roles for those without a university degree have dropped by 32%.

Currently, entry-level roles make up 25% of the UK job market, compared to 28.9% in 2022.

The steepest decline has occurred in retail, where job opportunities for young professionals have fallen by 78% since November 2022. The IT sector saw a 55% drop, and accounting and finance declined by 51%.

Dario Amodei, CEO of AI company Anthropic, warned that in the next five years, AI could eliminate half of all entry-level office jobs and increase unemployment by 10–20%.
