It is planned to launch the Apple Pay and Google Pay payment systems in Uzbekistan. This initiative was announced during a meeting of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, with US business representatives.
The implementation of the payment systems in the country is being carried out in cooperation with Google and other technology companies. Work is underway to establish a network of Digital Academies and startup centers throughout the Republic.
At the meeting, future projects on uranium mining and rare earth metal processing were also discussed. It is planned to introduce US technologies into these sectors.
The DFC Corporation and the US Eximbank will be involved in the implementation and promotion of the projects. Additionally, possibilities of establishing cooperation between Uzbekistan and the US in the fields of energy, logistics, and transport infrastructure are being considered.
Apple Pay is a mobile payment system and e-wallet developed by Apple Inc., launched in October 2014. Google Pay, on the other hand, was offered to users by Google in 2015 and operated under the name Android Pay from September 2015 to February 2018.
