
A new $320 million project aimed at expanding the extraction and processing of ore at gold deposits in the Navoi region will be launched. Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced this in his address to the Oliy Majlis and the people of Uzbekistan on December 26.
It is noted that within the framework of this project, an additional 2 million tons of ore will be processed. At the same time, the next stage of development of the Muruntau deposit will be implemented, and large investment projects worth $2.3 billion are planned for the development of silver deposits. As a result, the annual processing capacity will reach 18 million tons, and gold production will increase to 175 tons by 2030.
Work will also begin on the construction of a new metallurgical complex at the Almalyk Combine with a production capacity of 300 thousand tons of copper cathode per year, worth 2 billion 700 million dollars. At the Samarkand Chemical Plant, with an investment of 381 million dollars, the production of 370 thousand tons of phosphorus and 540 thousand tons of complex fertilizers per year will be established.
A $200 million chemical plant is also planned to be built in the Kashkadarya region. Through this enterprise, it will be possible to produce 50 thousand tons of alkylbenzene per year for the production of household chemicals, polymers, and synthetic fuel.
Overall, in 2026, it is planned to launch new projects worth $4.5 billion in the chemical industry, $3 billion each in the mining and metallurgical, oil and gas, automotive, textile, and construction materials industries, $2 billion in the electrical engineering sector, and $800 million in the pharmaceutical sector.
At the same time, the main goal is to bring the country's exports to $40 billion next year, and to increase the share of finished and semi-finished products to more than 55 percent.
