AI writes 75% of new code at Google

"Google" announced that three-quarters of new program code in its internal systems is now being created with the help of artificial intelligence. The generated code is reviewed by engineers at the final stage. This figure shows a sharp rise compared to previous years: in October 2024 the AI share was 25%, and by autumn 2025 it had reached 50%. Devby.io reports this.
The company's CEO Sundar Pichai noted that "Google" is restructuring its work processes around agent-based models. According to him, the cooperation between AI and engineers is yielding significant results. In particular, the complex code migration process is being completed six times faster than a year ago with the help of agents.

Currently, developers use the company's own "Gemini" models to create code. AI proficiency has become one of the main criteria for evaluating employee performance. However, processes do not always run smoothly: some "Google DeepMind" employees used a competitor's "Claude Code" tool, which caused disputes within the teams.
Other tech giants are also actively working in this direction. "Microsoft" CEO Satya Nadella said that in some projects 30% of the code is written by AI, while the company's CTO Kevin Scott predicts the figure will reach 95% within five years. "Meta" plans to entrust more than 75% of engineers' work to AI by 2026.
