Uzbekistan grants dry port status to 26 transport and logistics centers. This decision was made during a meeting under the framework of the UN ESCAP organization held in Bangkok, according to the Ministry of Transport.
Among the facilities classified as dry ports are Navoi Cargo, Nukus Center, the Multimodal Trans Terminal, and the Termez Logistics Center. It should be noted that Uzbekistan joined the agreement on dry ports in 2021.
This document was developed at Russia's initiative and signed in Bangkok in 2013. Countries such as Bangladesh, India, Kazakhstan, and South Korea have ratified it.
Dry ports are logistics hubs designated for receiving goods, temporary storage, customs inspections, and clearance procedures. They are typically located close to seaports.
