Starting from April next year, all banks in Uzbekistan will be able to issue social cards. This was stated in a presidential decree on reorganizing the social support system. This is reported by kursiv.uzreports.
For now, that is until the end of December this year, the right to issue such cards has been granted only to Aloqabank and the People’s Bank. It is also planned that from the beginning of next year social cards will be used as an identity document or as a disability certificate.
The provision of social services, subsidies, grants, and other financial assistance through these cards will be launched from July 2026. Previously, the system was expected to start in February.
From that date, the cards will also be linked to benefits for transport and travel tickets: discounts are expected for bus and taxi rides, as well as when purchasing train and plane tickets.
