At the Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held another round of talks. The closed, one-on-one meeting lasted more than 2.5 hours. This was reported by upl.uzreports.
According to sources, this was the fourth personal contact between the two leaders since the beginning of 2025, indicating an intensification of diplomatic dialogue between Washington and Kyiv. However, no breakthrough agreements were announced at the end of Sunday’s visit.
At the post-meeting press conference, Trump responded cautiously to questions about when a peace deal could be signed. The White House chief stressed that the process depends on how the current situation develops, noting that if things go well it could happen within a few weeks; otherwise the timeline may be extended or there may be no result at all. Trump described the war in Ukraine as the bloodiest and possibly the largest conflict since World War II.
Zelensky provided more specific figures, saying that a 20-point peace plan has so far been agreed by the sides by 90%. According to him, bilateral security guarantees between the United States and Ukraine have been fully confirmed. A broader security framework involving the U.S., European countries, and Ukraine is also nearly ready.
On the division of responsibilities, Trump noted that the main burden of ensuring Kyiv’s long-term security should fall on Europe. However, he added that Washington will not stay on the sidelines and is ready to provide the necessary support to its allies in Europe. The talks ended without any final documents being signed, and key disagreements were deferred to the next rounds.
The Mar-a-Lago residence where the talks took place was also mentioned: in the 1970s, owner Marjorie Post offered it to the state as a “Winter White House” for presidents, but the government declined the gift due to high maintenance costs. The property was later purchased by Donald Trump.
