The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, dismissed two district governors and their deputies during a meeting addressing unemployment issues. Those removed from office include Ilhom Abrorov, the governor of Denov district; Fayzulla Yusupov, the governor of Chiroqchi district; and their respective deputies.
Abrorov served as the governor of Denov district from late January 2023 until November 2025. Meanwhile, Yusupov led Chiroqchi district from August 2023 until November of this year.
Their dismissal was attributed to poor results in combating poverty. During the meeting, it was noted that in Denov district, the issue of providing employment for the population was neglected.
Despite Denov receiving 4.5 times more funds compared to Uzun district, no change was observed in the income of 1,200 families. A similar situation was reported in Chiroqchi district.
This year, 309 billion soums were allocated to support entrepreneurship in neighborhoods within the district; however, the district leadership failed to propose even a single ready-made project to the population. During the meeting, the President highlighted Uzun district as an example of successful practice.
The administration in Uzun district managed to attract $70 million in foreign investments. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
