Central Bank registered 37 microfinance organizations in 2025

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan registered 37 microfinance organizations (MFOs) throughout 2025. According to the regulator’s report, four payment organizations were also granted licenses to operate. This was reported by kursiv.uz reports .

Based on last year’s results, the Central Bank also registered one microfinance bank and one credit bureau. In addition, 12 auditors received permits to work in Uzbekistan.

In 2025, the number of permits issued for acquiring a stake in the charter capital of credit organizations totaled 32. Most of them related to the microfinance segment: 19 permits were for MFOs, eight for banks, and four for pawnshops.

The report also noted that the banking license of “Eurasia Bank” was revoked. Work is currently underway to liquidate the bank.

The Central Bank also touched on reforms aimed at strengthening competition in the financial sector. According to the regulator, these measures helped reinforce the stability of the financial system and expand access to financial services for the public and businesses.

As part of developing microfinance in the country, microfinance banks have been allowed to operate. Also, in 2025 a law on bank resolution and liquidation was adopted, approving the procedure for closing banks.
