Renowned Italian coach Fabio Capello — a specialist who previously also managed the Russia national team — worked with Milan during his career as well. He coached the Rossoneri in the first half of the 1990s, and journalists asked him to compare that side with today’s Milan. This is reported by euro-football.ru reports .
In Capello’s view, that Milan was stronger than the current one. The coach noted that football itself has changed: back then, five substitutions were not allowed. As a result, weaker teams would come to San Siro and put up a good fight for a while, but eventually they would tire, and in the final half-hour Milan would completely swing the advantage their way and “pin” the opponent back. According to Capello, today the game’s dynamics are different, and the current Milan have fewer chances to repeat such a scenario.
